The final phase of the ANZAC Park upgrade began on Friday, March 2, when the Lions Club of Inverell commenced the construction of the pedestrian access in Railway Street. The pedestrian access replicates the original entry to the Delungra Railway Station established c1903.
The Lions Club will complete the final phase of the upgrade designed and commenced 2015 by Mr Harry McNaughton, for opening during the ANZAC Day ceremony at Delungra.
Who could forget the visit of Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall in 2015, who came after work started for the $26,000 upgrade. Back then, Mr Marshall had said the Delungra District Development Committee (DDDC) had been successful in their application for a $12,770 grant from the Community Building Partnership fund and had moved quickly on the project ahead of the commemoration for the Centenary of ANZAC that year.
Three years onwards, and the final stage has begun.
