Inverell’s ANZAC day activities will kick off at 5.45am in the foyer of RSM Club with a short service and wreath laying.
At 6am the public service will begin at the cenotaph in front of the Memorial Swimming Pool. Guests are invited to a breakfast at the RSM Club provided by the RSL ladies auxiliary.
At 8am, a bus will leave from the front of the RSM Club for the Gilgai service. It will return in time for the march, which will begin at 10.30am.
Starting at the post office, marchers will walk down Otho Street, along Byron Street and back to the cenotaph for the 11am service.
At 11.05, a Hawk 127 Jet from the Williamtown Airforce Base will fly over the service as a sign of respect to lost diggers. Returned Afghanistan soldier Keenan Shepherd will be the guest speaker. Lunch will follow the service at 12pm at the club. The day will end with two-up at Flander’s House from 2pm.
Tingha’s service will begin at the memorial arch at 6am, followed by the traditional breakfast at the Tingha Sport and Recreation Club.
Marches will assemble at the Tingha School gates on Ruby Street at 10.30am, leaving at 10.45am for the 11am service. The Inverell air force cadets, light horsemen, police and vintage cars will lead the march, followed by Tingha school children and members of the public.
After the service, lunch will be served at the Sport and Recreation Club for members and invited guests. For bookings or information, contact Audrey McArdle on 6723 3361.
The Ashford dawn service will be at the war memorial cenotaph in front of the Ashford Memorial Swimming Pool. Arrive at 5.45am for a 6am start. Sprigs of rosemary and dawn service programs will be available.
Breakfast at the Ashford Memorial Bowling Club will follow, with the parade stepping off from Albury Street at 11am and marching to the town hall for a service hosted by Ashford Central School. Lunch and two-up will follow at the bowling club.
