Annual Delungra collectors show has something for everyone
23rd of Aug, 2013 12:00 am

For the first time, antique valuations will be available for all stallholders who would like an “Antique Roadshow” moment with their favourite collectables.

Licensed valuer and antiques dealer Jill Pickering is coming from the coast to give a price on treasured items. Valuations will be $5 per item or $10 for three items. The fees collected from her efforts will be donated to the NSW northern regions Ronald McDonald House.

Club chairman Harry NcNaughton said the club has a special goal this year: “To ask local people that have used Ronald McDonald House, both Newcastle and Tamworth, if they’d like to come along and make themselves know to us. We hope to raise lots of money but you know, this is the first time we’ve done it.”

Harry’s brother and sister-in-law John and Margaret McNaughton plan to be present for the event.

Margaret is a patron of the Ronald McDonald Foundation and John was a long-serving Lord Mayor of Newcastle.

Held at the Delungra Hall, the show is open to the public from 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday and 8am to 3pm on Sunday. The local Girl Guides will offer morning and afternoon tea with sandwiches and the show includes a swap and sell, junior division and non-competitive displays.

Exhibitors from around the region will begin setting up today.

Mr NcNaughton expects the number of exhibits will, at the least, meet the previous years’ tally.

The show has had a few venues in the last 29 years, but Harry reckons Delungra has been their venue for at least the last eight years. He should know, he’s attended nearly every one of them.

“That hall at Delungra is full. That hall at Delungra is the best hall in the area for this sort of a show.”

The Inverell District Bottle and Collector’s Club collectables show can be located in the Delungra Hall on Railway Street, Delungra.
