As Australia Day falls on Sunday this year, the Royal Hotel in Tingha will be kicking off celebrations early with Australia Day Eve celebrations.

Delungra Hotel will be the place to be from February 21 to 23 as the popular fundraising Weeds and Waterholes Bash takes place.

Delungra Public School quickly raised an initiative last weekend to collect donations to contribute to The Rescue Collective Facebook appeal.

Seven Meals on Wheels volunteers were honoured for their local contributions at a luncheon on Tuesday, between them racking up 165 years of service.

With what seems to be an endless time of drought and fires across the northern part of the state, it would be easy to focus upon the negatives, yet the Northern Tablelands cadet team are a beacon of light in these trying times.
