SOME of the best shooters in Australia will contest the Pistol Australia Incorporated 18th National Championships at Delungra starting on Friday.
It will be the fourth time the Inverell RSM Pistol Club has staged the event at the top class range at Delungra.
Three national representatives will join a prominent field of locals for the three days of competition.
Leading shooters include Canberra's Kim Emery, Narrabri's David Dewsbury and Brisbane's Judy Harding who have all competed overseas.
Sixty-one shooters will battle for top honours.
The locals will also be strongly represented with Peter Campbell, club president Terry Read, Chris Kent, Jeff Morris and Phillip De Fraine.
Federal Member for New England, Tony Windsor will officially open the titles at 9.30am on Friday and competition will start at 10am.
Club president Terry Read said spectators are most welcome to come and see some top competition over the three days.
"The sport is spectator friendly and we look forward to seeing as many people as possible," Terry said.

The range is located 1km west of Delungra on the Gwydir Highway and is signposted. Competition starts at 8am on Saturday and Sunday.
