FOLLOWING the cancellation of the Boxing Day races, the Inverell Jockey Club is confident tomorrow's Cup meeting will receive outstanding support.

This year Cup day boasts seven races featuring the $12,000 New England Estate Wines Inverell Cup, $10,000 BK Oliver Shorts Handicap and the $8,000 Brian Baldwin Maiden Handicap.

The seven-race meeting will receive full TAB and SKY Channel coverage.

"Whilst there was no local racing on Boxing Day the social function was well attended and the club is appreciative for the support it received from locals and visitors,'' IJC treasurer Leonie Moffit said.

Leonie said the club has received tremendous nominations for tomorrow's feature meeting.

"We could not be happier - the horses accepted are very classy and this should add to the Cup day atmosphere,'' Leonie said.

For the first time the club will stage the three feature events on Cup day which is set to bolster the TAB program.

It's the second year in a row the Shorts Handicap has been moved to Cup Day and a first for the time-honoured Brian Baldwin Maiden.

"We are fortunate to have the big three on the one program and the supporters will appreciate it,'' Leonie said.

Adding to the Cup celebrations will be the Fashions in the Fields sponsored by New England Estate Wines, Ellati and Top To Toe and organised by Jenny Fox.

There will also be complimentary wine tasting from New England Estate Wines.

Outstanding Moree galloper Nova heads the field in the 1400m Inverell Cup.

The Peter Sinclair trained Brisbane winner, has been allocated 58.5kg and will have the services of William Morris. Second top weight Baby Face which won the Digger's Cup is badly drawn in barrier 12 but recent form brings him into consideration after winning a feature race at Armidale recently.

Former Inverell trainer Brett Dodson, now based in Coffs Harbour has accepted with Brisbane winner Proud Mark which is ideally drawn in barrier five.
