EMPIRE looks set for success in the second half of their two-day cricket match against Aussies this weekend.
Aussies batted first on Saturday, and was all out for 146 by 5pm.
Blake Uebergang was top batsman for the team, scoring 70 runs not out.
However, Aussies batting was severely hindered by a marathon bowling from Empire's Simon Kirk.
Kirk bowled more than 16 overs in the heat to take 4 wickets for 32 runs.
Empire took advantage of Aussies early finish and began batting early to get a head start for the conclusion of the game on Saturday.
Empire sat on 1 for 80 with David Mudaliar making up 61 runs not out of Empire's total score.
Captain of Empire Brendon Campbell said Empire was looking to drive home a strong win on Saturday.
He hoped Mudaliar could reach a century, and was pleased about Saturday's result because hopefully a second innings would give junior players more battling time.
In other games, Royal Rats are in a great position for the second half of their match against Delungra.
Delungra batted first and were all out for 102, with Eamon Hasselmann as top scorer with 43.
Delungra's efforts were hampered by great bowling from Colin Bruckard who captured 5 wickets for 12 runs off 9 overs.
RSM batted first in its game against Staggy Creek all out for 131, with Stuart Griffin making 27 of RSM's total.
Troy Brabant hassled RSM batsmen taking 5 for 48 runs from 16 overs.
Staggy Creek are currently on 3 for 63.
