JUNIOR Delungra lawn bowler Billy-Joe Mangion has been selected in a group of 40 talented bowlers to attend a training camp in Sydney this week. The Year 7 Warialda High student and member of the Delungra Bowling Club was one of 120 juniors identified and was named in the final 40 selected to attend the camp at the NSW Sports Academy at Narrabeen.
BJ takes his bowls seriously and is keen to progress to a higher level.
The training camp will be a major step for him as he has only been bowling competitively for two years.
"I first started by just playing a social game and it went on from there – I enjoy the social bowls as well as the president's days," BJ said.
He's travelled to Easst Maitland, Moree, Croppa Creek, Ashford, Manilla, Tamworth and Tuncurry for competition.
"From this camp I'd like to learn more on judgement and how to read the game," BJ said. The Year 7 Warialda High student and member of the Delungra Bowling Club was one of 120 juniors identified and was named in the final 40 selected to attend the camp at the NSW Sports Academy at Narrabeen.
