The Delungra Quilters will outdo themselves at the Quilt and Craft Exhibition from April 21-22
16th of Apr, 2018 01:27 pm

THE Delungra Quilters are busy preparing for their biannual Quilt and Craft Exhibition this weekend. The event will take place at the Delungra Multi-Purpose Hall and is the culmination of two years worth of preparations.

The ladies meet on the first Saturday and the fourth Wednesday of every month at the Welcome Back Fabric Barn for patchwork. There, they spend their time, quilting while friendships are forged between the stitches.

It’s a creative pastime where the ladies share ideas and help each other out with their projects. It’s also a time for the ladies to relax and bond.

Some of the ladies travel away on sewing retreats through the year with one of the members having travelled overseas for sewing workshops.

This year’s show has a Great Granny theme, with a number of quilts focused on this subject.

Apart from the quilts, there will be a brilliant display of restored antique toys by Ken Edmonds.

Activities also include shop stands, competitions, cent auctions, trading tables as well as a number of demonstrations. Winners of the monster raffle will be able to choose their prize, either a quilt or a sewing table.

Opening times to the exhibition are on Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and on Sunday, April 22, from 10am to 4pm. Entry is at $6 and includes a lucky door ticket and quiz sheet.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy afternoon tea and light lunches for a small charge.

Proceeds of the weekend will go towards local charities, including the Women’s Cancer Support Group, Prostate Cancer (Inverell Branch) and the Westpac helicopter. For more info, call 67214212.
