Troy Brabant rewarded for consistent season

STAGGY Creek's Troy Brabant has been rewarded for a consistent season by topping the batting lists in the Inverell Cricket Association's A grade two-day competition.

Brabant amassed 250 runs at an average of 62.5 to top both awards.

He also was the best allrounder for the season, scoring 145 points, we clear of his nearest rival, Oxfords' Dave Mudaliar.

Royal Rats' Shane Degunst was the next highest run scorer on 207, while Aussies' Ross Scott had the second best average of 57.5.

Scott's team-mate Damien Smith had the best bowling average (7.25) of the season.

Mudaliar dominated the accolades in the A grade one-day competition, scoring the most runs and clinching the allrounder award.

He scored 322 runs at 40.17 in the one-day format.

The best batting average belonged to Oxford's Brendon Campbell (255 runs) with 63.75.

Delungra's Jarod Uebergang was the leading wicket taker with 18, while Rats' Robbie Russell had the best bowling average of 8.6.

Second grade – batting aggregate: T Walker (Bundarra) 617; batting average: P Leitinger (Tingha) 80.5; most wickets: A Frankland (Bundarra) 33, bowling average: M McLane (Tingha) 11.6; allrounder: D Irwin.

Third grade – batting aggregate: J Monckton (Oxfords) 507, batting average: M Krug (Aussies) 93; most wickets: S Donnelly (Staggy Creek) 31; bowling average: S Donnelly 1.58; allrounder: M Germany (Oxfords).

Other awards – John Henderson one-day A grade trophy: Oxfords.

Cameron Finney two-day A grade trophy: Aussies.

Major premiers second grade: Tingha.

Bert Lowrey under-17 trophy: J Orchard.

Under-19 trophy: Brett Drewitt (Delungra).

President's Shield: Mary-Jane Sutton and Rhonda Brabant.
