STUDENTS and staff from public schools at Armidale, Guyra, Inverell, Glen Innes and Walcha are featured on a photo gallery about Armidale district's successful Anaiwan program launched on the World Wide Web.
The photo gallery shows some of the activities at the camp which marks the beginning of the seventh year of the motivational initiative for Aboriginal students in senior primary and junior high school.
Armidale district superintendent of education, Wayne Chandler, said the photo gallery is further recognition for the Anaiwan program, an initiative developed locally by Department of Education and public school staff.
"The photo gallery will now take this important local initiative out to a world wide audience,” Mr Chandler said.
"Anaiwan is just one of the exciting educational initiatives benefiting students at public schools in the Armidale district.
"The Department of Education and Training uses the website to highlight the wealth of effective programs in NSW public schools, and it is amazing how much interest it generates, both in Australia and overseas.
"I'm confident that educators and indigenous communities will find learning about the approach to motivation and mentoring adopted by Anaiwan to be very worthwhile.”
The photo gallery features students from Delungra, Drummond, Glen Innes, Inverell, Sandon and Tingha public schools; Duval, Inverell and Macintyre high Sshools; and Ashford, Guyra and Walcha central schools, as well as staff from Drummond Public and our Armidale District Office.
"It is good to see our local schools featured in this way,” Mr Chandler said.
"Anaiwan has always used the latest computer technology to facilitate mentoring, and this new dimension to the use of technology is another step in the right direction.”
Mr Chandler said the photo gallery, in the on-line events section of the Department of Education and Training website, can be seen at www.schools.nsw.edu.au/events/onl ineevents/anaiwan/gallery/index1. php
