RESIDENTS of Delungra have formed a committee to plan celebrations for the centenary of the village and the school.
Celebrations from Friday, January 26 to Sunday, January 28 are planned to coincide with Australia Day 2007.
"Many readers will remember the wonderful celebrations that Delungra hosted this year," committee publicity officer Sam Dobner said.
"We are building on the success of these and promise a wonderful program of entertainment and activities for our very special year.
"We are currently seeking to contact former residents of the village, and former members of sporting groups and other associations with a view to their participation in the program.
"We are hoping that these people will come to a meeting on May 23 to help us to plan the program."
It's hoped sporting groups might hold a short competition, and join in with other groups in a display of memorabilia telling the history of their organisation.
Activities will include displays showing the agricultural contributions of the village to the local economy, handcrafts, produce, and activities for the children, and food.
There will be a street parade, presentations of awards for community involvement, displays of historic cars and vehicles, and entertainment.
There will be a family dinner with entertainment and fireworks on the Friday night, the Delungra Public School will host a dinner dance on the Saturday, and on the final day there will be a combined church service followed by morning tea to farewell visitors.
The next committee meeting will be held at the Delungra Bowling Club on Tuesday, May 23 at 7.40pm.
