The Inverell Motorcycle Restorers Club will hold its 16th official annual Rally on April 19-20.
There have been over 170 entries and unfortunately some people have had to stay at Glen Innes as it appears there is an accommodation problem, for this weekend in Inverell according to club spokesman Mac McCulloch.
The clubs first Rally in1992 had just a few entries and has grown every year since.
“We have had entries from as far afield as Orang,e Sydney, Gosford, Brisbane, and the Sunshine Coast,’’ Mac said.
This year, the Saturday ride is to Ashford via the winery at Delungra, back through Mt Russell to Oakwood, to Cherry Tree Hill, on past Graman to Ashford via Wallangra.
The Ashford Organisation NEVAT (New England Volunteer air Transport Inc) is providing lunch and has put a lot of effort into organising a carnival atmosphere with stalls a band and events for the kids.
NEVAT has applied to have the main street closed and is hoping to cater for over 230 for lunch.
Over 200 motorcycles will be on display in the main street and the club is hoping to help NEVAT to raise funds for a very worthy cause.
The rally bikes will be on display at the Pioneer Village from 8am until 9.30am Saturday and Sunday mornings, and the Saturday night dinner will be held at the Inverell East Bowling Club.
On Saturday afternoon Phil Myhill has kindly agreed to display his tractor collection for those riders that are interested. Sunday morning is a ride to Copeton Dam and back, followed by a sausage sizzle for lunch, completing the weekend.
