Inverell councillors consider Delungra issues

The February meeting of the Delungra District Development Council (DDDC) hosted new councillors and council staff of Inverell shire Council in order to familiarize them with the DDDC and Delungra village also to make an inspection of the waste depot and village at the conclusion of the meeting.

The chairman of the DDDC, Peter McCarthy welcomed the Mayor of Inverell Shire Council, Paul Harmon who was accompanied by the new councillors, Cr Kate Dight, Cr Neil McCosker, Cr Stuart Berryman and Paul King together with Deputy Mayor, Cr Anthony Michael and Cr Jacki Watts.

Included in the welcome were Mr. Paul Henry, CEO Inverell Shire Council and members of the staff.

During an address to the meeting, the chairman Mr. Peter McCarthy, outlined community concerns relating to low water pressure in the village water supply and recent storm damage to roads surfaces within the village for consideration of Inverell Shire Council.

At the conclusion of the meeting the visiting party conducted an inspection of the waste depot with Jim Townsend and a tour of the village.

The next meeting of the Delungra District Development Council will be held on Thursday March 2 at 7.30am the Community Care building Inverell Street.
