Car, bus collide at Delungra

A five-year-old boy was treated for lacerations on Wednesday when a vehicle he was in collided with a coach carrying 36 passengers at Delungra.

Inverell Police said the vehicle had pulled out in front of the coach causing a collision at about 10.20am on the Gwydir Highway.

Senior Constable Matt Cribb said there were no injuries to the passengers on the bus, who were on a tour from Ballina to Narrabri.

The driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old woman was transported to Inverell District Hospital, but was allowed to leave later in the day.

The driver of the vehicle and the five-year-old boy were from Delungra.

Delungra Rural Fire Service, Inverell Police and ambulance responded to the incident.

Police investigations are continuing into the accident.

n Meanwhile, a 65-year-old woman suffered head and torso injuries and was conveyed to Tamworth Base Hospital after a car accident in Henderson St about 10am yesterday.

Police said they expect to lay charges against an 18-year-old p-plate driver who they believe may have failed to give way at the intersection of Henderson St and Vivian St as he was driving north-east along Henderson St.

The 18-year-old male driver and his 18-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries and were conveyed to Inverell Hospital for treatment and later discharged for questioning.

Police are yet to interview the woman.
