Lick o' paint for local schools

ALMOST $500,000 has been put aside for maintenance projects in 14 local schools.

The funding announcement of $483,725 by Education and Training Minister, Andrew Refshauge, has been welcomed by local MP, Richard Torbay.

"All of the projects will go towards ensuring that our schools are maintained at a high standard,” Mr Torbay said.

"Infrastructure renewal and maintenance creates greater confidence across the school community.

"Well maintained schools are a source of pride to their communities and create a better environment for students and staff.”

The grants include:

• Armidale High School - replace floor coverings, stormwater installations

• Bald Blair Public School - electrical installation

• Black Mountain Public School - water installation

• Bundarra Central School - replace floor coverings

• Delungra Public School - replace floor coverings and structural repairs

• Drummond Memorial Public School - replace floor coverings

• Duval High School - electrical installation and floor coverings extension

• Ebor Public School - replace floor coverings and electrical installation

• Glen Innes High School - stormwater installation and replace partitions

• Glen Innes Public School - replace floor coverings and sewer installation

• Inverell High School - stormwater and electrical installation

• Newling Public School - ground works

• Thalgarrah FSC - stormwater installation

• Uralla Central School - replace floor coverings and hot water system.
