Spring brings cinema under the stars
15th of Aug, 2016 09:45 am

It promises to be popcorn and fun aplenty at the ‘Cinema Under the Stars’ events to commence next month in villages across Inverell Shire.

The idea for the outdoor cinema series arose when Yetman Hall and Progress Association and Inverell Shire Council joined forces to create a fun, free, carnival-style event for Inverell’s outlying rural communities.

President of Yetman Hall and Progress Association Kate Dight says next month’s Cinema Under the Stars series is already generating a buzz, with big crowds expected.

“The Delungra event on Saturday 10th September will include a screening of The Jungle Book on the big inflatable movie screen, a rock climbing wall, free popcorn, market stalls, giveaways and a jumping castle,” she said.

All entertainment and children’s activities are free. Following the Delungra event, Yetman’s outdoor cinema will take place Saturday, September 17, with a screening of Eddie the Eagle, featuring Hugh Jackman.

The event will coincide with a fundraising dinner for twins Bradley and Teddy Moffitt to assist with their ongoing medical expenses and also make changes at Yetman School to help the boys start school next year.

The Delungra event begins 2.30pm at Delungra Recreation Ground, with the movie after sunset at 6.30pm. Community groups and potential stallholders are invited to call Inverell Shire Council for further information.

Residents in Yetman and Delungra areas will receive details in their letterbox shortly. Learn more at Inverell Shire Council's Facebook page and website www.inverell.nsw.gov.au.
