Delungra Quilters to show off their best
12th of Apr, 2016 10:03 am

THE Delungra Quilters are busy preparing for their biannual Quilt and Craft Exhibition.

The exhibition will be open to the public on April 16 and 17 at the Delungra Hall from 10am to 5pm both days with $6 entry.

Morning and afternoon teas and lunches will be available for a small charge.

There will be a monster raffle, lucky door prizes, a doll and teddy bear display plus a stall selling dolls clothes.

There will be local shop displays plus a brilliant display of restored antique toys.

Throughout both days there will be a variety of demonstrations as well. It will be a fun filled weekend for everyone.

Their inaugural quilt show started back in 1996 with quilts exhibited on a Sunday afternoon at the Delungra Bowling Club with $800 raised and donated to Cystic Fibrosis.

Since their first quilt show, the group have raised just over $20,000 for charity with donations going to Cystic Fibrosis, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Delungra Multi-Purpose Hall, Cancer Council and the McGrath Foundation.

The group of ladies call themselves the Busy Bees and they have been very busy preparing their quilts and craft items for display.

The ladies meet twice a month at Welcome Back Fabric Barn for patchwork, quilting and all forms of needlework as well as friendship, sharing ideas and helping each other out with their projects. Some of the ladies travel away on sewing retreats throughout the year.

They also participate in group challenges that are displayed at the Quilt Show.
