16th of Sep, 2003 10:46 am

THREE motorcyclists have been left bruised and battered after they collided with two stray cows about 8.20am on Sunday. The riders were travelling east about five kilometres from Delungra. The rider of the first motorcycle suffered a compound fracture to the left arm and other cuts and bruises while a passenger of this motorcycle suffered a broken left hand and bruising to the shoulder and ankle. A second motorcycle travelling close behind collided with the second cow. All riders were transferred to Inverell hospital, but the rider of the second motorcycle was later taken by Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Tamworth Base Hospital with abdominal injuries. Both cows died as a result of the accident.
