DELUNGRA organisations benefited from a day of golfing fun held by Police in Inverell Shire recently.
The Delungra Police Charity Golf Day was held to raise money for some worthy Delungra organisations.
Recipients included the Delungra Girl Guides, who received $1000, Delungra Newslink which received $250 and the Delungra Family Fun Night Committee which also received $250.
The Delungra Country Women's Association Playgroup Committee was also given $250, although immediately donated the cash to the fun night committee.
The fun night committee holds sporting activities in the Delungra Community Hall every month, and the CWA Playgroup committee wanted the wider Delungra community to benefit from the money.
The Delungra Police and Friends Committee raised $262 by selling sandwiches, the Delungra Golf Club raised $900 from the sale of drinks and $2347 was raised by the green fees, raffles and donations on the day.
The Delungra Golf Club also made a generous donation of $300 from its sales on the day.
Organiser of the day Scott Chester said overall the day raised about $3500, which was a wonderful acheivement for a small rural community.
Mr Chester said the response to the charity golf day was overwhelming.
He said the day was a huge sucess with 93 keen golfers turning up to have some fun for a good cause.
