DISTRICT coordinator of the "Operation Christmas Child” Shoe Box appeal, Marcia Murray, has said a big 'thank you” to the people of Inverell and district for the wonderful response to its 2005 appeal.
Mrs Murray said a total of 254 boxes were collected this year for distribution through the Samaritan's Purse organisation.
The countries supported this year are Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, The Philippines and Solomon Islands.
"This appeal was supported by most of the churches in the district, craft groups, play groups, Sunday schools, guide groups, Inverell rehab and McLean activities centre and many individual people,” Mrs Murray said.
"The Delungra guides did a great job in collecting donations from a stand in the National Bank Inverell and making up boxes for this appeal,” she said.
"Thank you girls.”
She also thanked the National Bank Inverell, Inverell Freighters, Radio Station 2NZ and The Inverell Times.
The appeal for 2006 will be a winter appeal next year starting in May/June.
