MUSIC filled the Ross Hill Public School hall on Wednesday as Inverell Schools merged with the North West Country Schools Band to learn more about music and rehearse new pieces for a concert.
The Department of Education and Training's Regional Arts co-ordinator for the New England Region, Di Hall, said that it was part of a developmental program to help students and teachers from country schools.
She said the program helped teachers develop band programs and country school students have an opportunity to learn from a musical professional.
There were about 65 students from Inverell schools and 49 students from 18 schools in other country areas involved in the band which includes young musicians from Years four to 12.
The band was on tour for a week and had concerts in Bingara, Warialda, Inverell and Delungra.
Mrs Hall said students had a week to get to know each other before the tour.
