TV gardener is our Aust Day ambassador
8th of Dec, 2006 11:59 am

TELEVISION and radio gardening presenter Graham Ross will be Inverell Shire Council's Australia Day ambassador for celebrations next month.

Ross, who has shared his passion for all things green and growing with more than two million viewers each week since he joined the multi-award winning Better Homes and Gardens, will have a busy schedule when he arrives in Inverell on January 25.

The following morning he and Inverell mayor Barry Johnston will attend the Ashford Australia Day breakfast celebrations at Apex Park from 8am before heading to Delungra for that town's parade and celebrations.

The pair will then be back in Inverell for the Australia Day celebrations at the Pioneer Village.

A huge program is being planned for the Pioneer Village, including games and entertaining, the naming of Inverell's citizen and young citizen of the year and the community event of the year, and the naturalisation of three local residents.

Entry will be free to the Pioneer Village, and food and refreshments will be available.

Ross is one of the few television personalities that has featured on television virtually every week since 1978.

He combines his television schedule with a highly successful radio career, presenting a three-hour gardening program every Saturday and Sunday morning for Radio 2GB with his wife Sandra and daughter Linda.
