Delungra and Ashford looking forward to celebrating Australia Day

DELUNGRA’S Australia Day celebrations will begin at 9.30am with the Street Parade Assembly, the parade will take place at 10am and there will be pipe band music leading up to the Official Ceremony.

The flag raising will be done by Don Hazelwood, Peter Caddy will sing the National Anthem and the welcome will be by Graeme Wright. Mayor Mal Peters, Jim Townsend, Don Hazelwood and Councillor Jackie Watts will all address the crowd.

There will be poetry by Lorna Ogilvie and music by 20C’s before the official lunch.

Delungra is renowned for its Australia Day celebrations and this year is shaping up to be no different.

There Will be a barbecue and refreshments available, indoor and outdoor displays and market stalls.

A Vintage Car Display (near Fire Shed), G.T’s, Hot Rods, Motor Bikes, Antique Motor Bikes, Ulysses Motorcycles, Cloggers, Decorated Bikes & Scooters, Floats, Livestock Displays and Guessing Competitions will all be paert of the Delungra celebrations to be held in the multi-purpose hall and Anzac Park.

Celebrations in Ashford will see a barbecue breakfast served at 8am at the Swimming Pool run by Ashford Lions Club.

Australia Day ambassador, Don Hazelwood and Mayor Mal Peters will attend along with performances by the Inverell Pipe Band.
