Proud students at Zig Zag Public

THERE were some proud people around the local area following the announcement of the Tidy Towns category awards at the weekend.

The successes came in the Cultural Heritage and Schools Environment Awards.

Rydal took first place in its population category in the Environment and Heritage Awards on the theme of ‘our past, present and future’. Runner up was Delungra.

Portland Tidy Towns took first place in its population category with an entry based on the restoration of the local School of Arts building.

Portland edged out the other three finalists, Wallerawang, Brewarrina and Morpeth.

The other major award came in the Schools Environment section where Zig Zag School took first place in its school population category ahead of Nundle Public School.

The awards were presented by NSW Governor, Her Excellency Marie Bashir.
