Stage set for pinnacle event

Final preparations are underway for Opera in the Paddock and a Twilight Recital of German Song.

This marks the seventh year Peta and Bill Blyth have organised the Opera in the Paddock concert on their farming property “Mimosa” at Delungra, near Inverell.

This year features an additional event involving the visiting performers, The Twilight Recital of German Song at the Inverell Town Hall at 6.15 pm tonight featuring works by Schubert, Brahms, Schumann and Strauss for piano and voice.

Special guests from the German Consulate, Consul Gunther Gruber and Cultural Attaché Christiane Gruber will be attending both the Twilight Recital of German Song and Opera in the Paddock under invitation from the organising committee.

An exciting program will be offered for Opera in the Paddock the following night including works by Handel, duets by Bellini and Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Bizet’s The Pearlfishers, Flotow’s Martha and Porter’s Kiss Me Kate. The Mimosa Ensemble will again feature with selected instrumental favourites.

Ensemble members have assembled from across NSW and Queensland to perform at The Twilight Recital of German Song and Opera in the Paddock, and principal singers come from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Inverell.
