Phone towers and transport museum in line for funding
31st of May, 2011 03:51 pm

TWO proposed mobile phone towers in the local area and a planned extension of the National Transport Museum are both in the mix for funding from the federal government.

One of the phone towers is planned for the Copeton Dam area and the other proposed tower is to be installed between Inverell and Glen Innes.

The plan for the National Transport Museum includes a new building, incorporating a trade training centre.

Both projects were among 20 across northern NSW endorsed by Regional Development Australia Northern Inland (RDANI).

Chairman of RDANI Mal Peters said, while it wasn't the job of their committee to assess the applications for eligibility it was their task to ensure that they were in line with our vision for the region.

"It was fantastic to see so many innovative projects coming from the Northern Inland," Mr Peters said.

The fund is an Australian Government initiative that will spend $1 billion over five years to regenerate regional Australia.
