Collection of enthusiasts to gather at Delungra for show
13th of Aug, 2012 11:31 pm

The show will be held in the Multi-purpose Hall in Delungra and it is an event Leah Humphries would never miss. As well as being an avid collector of rose glass, Leah is also the secretary and treasurer of the Inverell District Collectors Club.

“It is a competition show that people can come into and put up a display of their collectables,” Leah said.

“This is the sort of thing that brings out what is hidden in cupboards, some people don’t even know they’re collectors yet, not until they go through their cupboards and find out what they actually have there.”

The show will have displays of everything from bottle to car jacks and Leah said there has been a lot of interest shown in this year’s event from places as far away as Newcastle and Toowoomba.

“Travel could be baulking a lot of people, with the cost of fuel and accommodation, and there is a big antiques fair in Coffs Harbour that weekend, still we are expecting a good turnout,” Leah said.

“The fun of it for exhibitors is working out how to put their displays together because they only have a set three foot by three foot space to do it in.

“That’s why we let people in on Friday afternoon, so they can work out what they are going to do.”

Non-competitive large disp-lays are also welcomed and there will be swap and sell stall holders in the hall too. A dinner will be held on Saturday night and a market day and specialised car display on Sunday.
