Historical win at national show

Belinda Emery and Matt Ross of Emross Shorthorn stud are celebrating a historical win at the National Shorthorn Show and Sale, held in Dubbo last week.

The show is renowned for being one of the most difficult to win, but 16 month old Emross Emperor’s Rain from “Yimkin” Delungra impressed the judge.

“I think Dubbo is the crown jewel as it is widely accepted that to win at Dubbo national level you have to be doing something right,” Belinda said.

Emross Emperor’s Rain weighs in at 740 kilograms and was described by judge Steve Branson of Banquet Angus as a ‘very well balanced bull with great testicles and sire appeal. Fantastic top line with meat in all the right places.’

“Being one of the youngest bulls at the show it was always going to be hard and the competition was of a very high standard,” Belinda said.

Emross Emperor’s Rain won class one up against 11 other bulls.

He then went up against another two classes of older bulls totalling 32 bulls and won.

After going on to the final he came up against the three other winners of all ages and came a close second.

Overall Emperor’s Rain competed against a total of 148 other bulls.

“All in all it was really incredible,” Belinda said

“I think winning at Dubbo will help seal a foundation for selling bulls.

“Being smaller I believe we can apply a little more attention to detail,” she said.

Belinda said she had help with making the bulls look so good in the ring.

She said Emperor’s Rain good condition was helped by Supreme Stock Feeds of Guyra and Caitlyn and Lauren Berecry of Oakwood Inverell who prepared him and paraded him around for the competition. Caitlyn also took out champion parader.

Belinda and Matt also sold Emperor’s Rain brother Electric Emperor in Dubbo last week.

Since then he has gone on to win junior champion at Primex Casino.

It was a successful couple of days in Dubbo for the Delungra based Emross stud and for Belinda and Matt it is a sign of good things to come.
