Matthew Giakoumi launched his first book on Friday.
Matthew, 10, unveiled ‘The story of Anni the Bear and Amy the Lynx’ to a group of children and adults at The Dust Jacket and raised $270 for the Otho Street fire victims in the process.
The launch included a reading from the book along with fun activities for children and parents.
Matthew was very happy with the launch and thanked the community for their support.
“On the day I did a reading from the book and signed a lot of copies.
“I would like to thank The Dust Jacket, Father Bernie and all my friends and people who didn’t know me who came to the launch,” Matthew said.
The money raised through book sales will be given to the Salvation Army to distribute to the victims of the Otho Street fire.
Signed copies of The Story of Anni the Bear and Amy the Lynx are still available from The Dust Jacket.
Matthew is already planning his second book about a boy, Danny Hogsfy, and a telescope.
For now the Delungra Public School student is looking forward to returning to school to see his friends.
