WITH the cricket season reaching its precipice, wet weather has again robbed local players and fans of the ending the season deserves. Despite the inclement conditions, some play has been possible and the game between Campbell & Freebairn Rebels and Bundarra resulted in Rebels winning on a first innings from a week prior.
The Rebels batted second chasing a mere 68 and passed the total with seven for 110 runs. As a result they have secured second spot on the first grade ladder and with one final one-day regular season match remaining, will be the main challengers to Staggy Creek in the finals.
Disappointingly, the other first grade game was forfeited by Delungra to the Royal Rats. All that is left to be decided now is what team finishes third and fourth respectively out of Bundarra and the Rats as the finals loom.
The rot continued in second grade with no games played due to forfeits.
Tingha had taken on the Invincibles at Staggy Creek the week earlier and the Invincibles batted first with Brendan Germany top scoring on 56 with messrs Lavender (18) and Torgau on 16 contributing to the 149 run total.
John Krauss was again the destroyer for Tingha, taking three for 12 while brother Kyle snared two for 24. Marshall Blair also took two wickets.
Tingha passed the total for the loss of only four wickets for 167. Kyle Krauss continued his day out with an unbeaten 66.
Brendan Germany capped a strong game with two for 36.
The second game was called off due to wet weather by President and Grounds keeper.
The draw for second grade next week in the final round of matches is as follows - Tingha v Sq. & Compass at Tingha while Ashford play the Invincibles in Ashford. Delungra have the bye
