INVERELL Highway Patrol police were involved in a short pursuit near Delungra on Sunday before apprehending a 23-year-old woman driver.
A police spokesperson said police were patrolling 5km east of Delungra when a motor vehicle was detected travelling in excess of the speed limit.
The spokesperson said police attempted to stop the vehicle to speak with the driver at about 6.45pm on Sunday.
"The driver, however, failed to stop when signalled to and increased speed, which resulted in police pursuing the motor vehicle," the spokesperson said.
Police were then able to stop the vehicle.
The police spokesperson said the driver was observed to have been drinking.
The spokesperson said she was arrested and subjected to a breath analysis at Inverell Police Station.
"The driver's licence was suspended, she was charged with exceeding the speed limit, driving in manner dangerous, failing to stop on police direction and low-range PCA," the spokesperson said.
She has been bailed to appear at Inverell Local Court.
Caught urinating
A 21-year-old Armidale man has been issued with a court attendance notice for offensive behaviour after Inverell Police observed him urinating against a business premises in Byron St on Sunday.
Police approached the man at about 2.30am and obtained his details and issued the court notice.
