STAR FM Community Radio members are over the moon after receiving a $50,000 donation from

David and Beryl Bull only recently moved to Inverell from Sydney and after attending a Community Radio monthly meeting decided to make the generous donation.

Mr Bull said he and his wife made the decision instantly and did not think twice about donating the money.

“We just want to support the development of community radio and we heard they were strapped for cash,” Mr Bull said

The community radio station has been on air for eight months and relies on sponsorship and donations to cover running costs.

There are almost 30 members and 12 presenters working to make STAR FM possible.

President Wayne Jones said the $50,000 donation had been overwhelming.

“The money will be used for equipment upgrade to enable us to broadcast to Tingha, Bundarra, Ashford, Delungra and Elsmore,” Mr Jones said.

“We are here for the community for all different walks of life so we really appreciate this donation and a huge thank you to David and Beryl for their generosity.”

Mr and Mrs Bull are now becoming members of STAR FM and Mr Bull is hoping to soon be on air.
