Let's help keep the Inverell Shire tidy by joining in one of the various Clean Up Australia Day groups later this week.
Bob Watters, a teacher at Ashford Central School, is organising, with students' help, a clean up in Ashford on Friday.
Anyone in the Ashford area is welcome to join the group, who will meet at the school at 3.30pm.
There will also be various groups heading out on the clean up from Inverell on Sunday.
The Rural Fire Service crew is cleaning from the Nullamanna turn off along Ashford Rd to Inverell.
The State Emergency Services will collect rubbish from along the Gwydir Hwy, starting at the Elsmore turn off.
There will also be people in boats removing rubbish from the Macintyre River.
The South Inverell Residents Association will tidy up Borthwick St, Waratah Ave and Waratah Park.
Clean Up Australia Day co-ordinator Terry Cum encourages the Inverell community to join one of these groups in the clean up.
He said anyone wanting to join should meet at the Inverell pool from 8am on Sunday to register for insurance purposes.
Mr Cum hopes there will be a big turnout from the community to help as he sent about 50 letters to various community clubs, organisations, services and sporting groups.
"We also want to clean up from Inverell to Gilgai, so we're hoping people will come and register," he said.
"I've been here for four months and found this a clean and pretty town and I assume the residents of Inverell and the shire appreciate the effort put in by numerous people in keeping it clean."
Anyone who takes part in the clean up is also invited to a barbecue at Inverell and Ashford pools afterwards.
"The food was kindly donated by Ritchies IGA," Mr Cum said.
For anyone in Delungra, Veronica Farragher will take the Delungra Girl Guides group around to clean up the town.
They will meet at Anzac Park on Sunday at 8am to register and anyone from the community is welcome to join them.
